Sam Is At It - Again!
9:01 AMThe Bag Saga continues....
Bag Prototype I Watercolor and Ink |
But I digress and Sam is giving me that look that tells me I need to get back on subject....the bag you see in the sketch above is actually made. It is missing the handle(s) and the flap is not sewn on yet. That won't be done until after handles are complete.
Sam wanted to use the two materials, the blue stripe and paisley....until we returned home and she found the green stripe in our stash to use as the lining. Of course, the whole point of this is to create a bag that's not too big and not too little and has just the right size/amount/type of pockets.
Much debate ensued with regard to what was big enough and what was too big. It turns out this one may be a bit too small. Which thrills Sam no end as she gets to make more bags. When and where we're going to find the time, I have no idea, but that small detail doesn't bother Sam. She has no concept of time.
Must be nice.

Pretty! Sam has good taste. Can't wait to see the finished product. (I'm glad I'm not the only one to gets excited about new bags...I have two to tell you about the next time we meet up!)
ReplyDeletePretty bag. This sounds like a great plan. My purse is large enough to carry most of my stuff but that isn't so fun as a special bag! Is this one large enough to hold a journal or is that why you are going to make it a bit larger? Love the colors and design. Wow Sam, you're a great designer!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I'm hoping I'll get to see it in person!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it, KJ!
ReplyDeleteTimaree, it will hold a journal up to 6.5 inches wide and 10 inches tall. I can also get my little palette, 3 waterbrushes, a pencil, fountain pen or other permanent ink pen and my iPhone in there! It's tight, but manageable. I, oops, Sam thinks the next one will be about an inch wider.
Cheryl, if not this one, the one very similar to it!
That!s a great bag, very pretty and practical! It!s a good thing that I don!t have a fabric store near me,could mean lots of trouble!
ReplyDeleteGee, Sam's creation is making my sewing fingers itch to visit a fabric store! It looks lovely, and much nicer than my re-purposed camera bag which only has a smudge of silver paint on it. Where DOES she find the time?!
ReplyDeleteSo many projects, so little time!! There's something about fabric stores - you just have to have more than you need!
ReplyDeleteCan I borrow Sam - I may 'need' one of these. Whatever size you make it - it won't be big enough. LOL
ReplyDelete...Sam is a seamstress too! I love this bag...looks marketable! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh that Sam is totally amazing. Wish I had her. Lovely idea. You need to take a pix with everything in it.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you have all your marbles?? You certainly duke it out with your muse, don't you?
ReplyDeleteThis bag is so pretty and I like that you painted it instead of just photographing it, like I would. :)
Let's talk!
