Oh, my, it is so nice outside right now! Please remember this is Florida and to get temps in the 60's in September is highly unusual! But we were in the 60's this morning, the humidity has dropped and it only climbed to the low 80's today - absolute heaven! My apologies for the lack of posts here lately - I am still...
Wow! Can you believe it's already fall?! I am stunned at how fast the days are flying by! Before the "great crash of September 16th" I had grand plans to relaunch my blog and web site with an Autumn theme. Weeeeeellllll, since I'm still awaiting replacement software to arrive, it doesn't look like that's going to be happening. Oh, well, at least I...
I have to say that yesterday was one of the wildest days I've experienced in quite some time. It's a tale of woe and redemption. I went over to the Apple store yesterday with my Mac for my one-on-one appointment. When I arrived with my desktop computer on a rollie cart, they couldn't find my appointment. Being that it was 9:00 o'clock in...
Watercolor Sketch Okay, now our waiter is beginning to look like a collage instead of a few random pieces thrown together. Which is what this sketch really is, but no one need know that! There are always going to be cool things that catch our eye that don't really make a complete sketch by themselves. Combine them! Create a collage out of a...
A quick thank you to everyone who entered into the drawing (and sent happy birthday wishes my way)! I am looking forward to another fantastic year and I'm hoping that you will all be part of it. So without further delay, the winner of the ImaginaryTrips.com journal and band is…… ……Ms. Claire M! Congratulations, Claire! The journal will be on it's way to...
Imagine my surprise and delight when I stumbled upon this lovely dog fountain! I just had to sketch it - for himself and for the 3 girls at home* that would've loved to have had a drink from it! Hmmm, knowing Susie, she would have submerged herself in the fountain! This is a watercolor sketch with black and white gel ink added in...
Today’s my birthday!! And I'm giving away the presents!! I am giving away a Folded Accordion Journal made of Arches 140 lbs., cold press watercolor paper AND an ImaginaryTrips.com Journal Band! (You can see some of my birthday cards in the background!) Above, you can see the journal folded up - it's approximately 5.5" x 7.5". Below is a close up of the journal...
1st FLOOR FLAT: PINK SATURDAY - MAKING BLOGGER BLOGGING A HAPPIER EXPERIENCE Hey, everyone, I want to direct your attention over to Susie's 1st Floor Flat post (link above) about all the cool changes Blogger has made (in case, you're like me and haven't made the time to stay current). Susie does a great job of explaining all the new features and some...

I never did get to where I was trying to go* - but then, that was okay because I kept stumbling upon these lovely hidden treasures I probably would not have found any other way! (Click on image to read the story!)
One of the things necessary to paint successfully on location is a mindset shift away from the "Altar of Details." And for those of us that worship at that alter, the mindset can be a little more difficult. Details become rare and precious things rather than a dime a dozen. Used sparingly, they make a sketch sing. Too many, and the sketch doesn't get finished - at least, not on location!
*This sketch is in preparation for An Imaginary Trip to Paris starting September 21st which will be a sketching and painting holiday for those who join me! (I'm not really in Paris, darn it!) More information can be found at ImaginaryTrips.com!
