In true muse fashion, Sam (my muse's name for any new readers) has risen to the occasion and is trying to help me out by convincing me I need to (stop everything and) make a purse/tote for myself since I haven't been able one I'd have—regardless of price. Now don't get me wrong, my purse is another one of those areas desperately in need of some tender, loving organization, but it is a small area as compared to everything else.
Not to mention this will require copious amount of time I don't have, new material (her eyes just lit up!) and who knows what other paraphernalia. ("No, Sam, we do NOT need a new sewing machine!")
Sigh.
Still....she actually had me sketching out what I thought my ideal purse/tote would look like:
Then she wanted to go to JoAnn's to look at material. I told her no. She left in a huff.
Now maybe I can get the office cleaned.
That girl!!
If you can get Sam to calm down and quit pouting you might persuade her to return if you promise to shop for fabric in the remnants section:-)
ReplyDeleteKaren! You're as bad as she is!! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteNo. No fabric! No remnants! The last thing "we" need is another project! ;•)
Vera Bradley has a tote that looks very similar to this with lots of pockets for organization. That way you wouldn't have to use your precious time making something, unless of course you prefer to do so.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, Lisa, I'll have to take a look. I don't know that I relish spending time on this right now. Maybe if I didn't have anything else to do.....
ReplyDeleteHi Laure:
ReplyDeleteVera Bradley is great. The store I owned with my ex, was one of the first places to ever carry Vera. I have lots of pieces. It is fantastic but pretty pricey. Go to VeraBradley.com.
Hope you are well. My life is crazy. Youngest son home for a week before moving to NYC. Things are busy at the store as we get ready for a total remodel UGH.
I really need organizing I can assure you of that.
Take care.
M
Thanks for the info, Martha—sounds like you're crazy busy as usual! I'm doing well (other than a nutty muse). Hope you are as well!
ReplyDeleteApparently Sam was visiting my grands...they not only made totes but both bought sewing machines and spent tons of money on fabric. Ah, they are my grands for sure. So, you , see, Sam has had a lot of practice on nagging. Don't fight it.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You are SO in trouble with Sam...you know that looking at fabric is good for the creative juices!
ReplyDeleteI will weigh in on the Vera Bradley; my sister gave me a tote for Christmas 2 years ago, and it has great organizational pockets, and is bright and cheerful.
They are a bit out of my price range right now, seeing as things have not improved much in our area, but you might want to check eBay or Craig's List.
Teri, the last thing I need is another "project" going on and Sam knows it!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Elizabeth! Who's side are you on anyway?!! Looking at fabric....I won't hear the end of that one any time soon! LOL!
I've been looking at Vera online and she's got a few I wouldn't mind seeing in person, but y'all are right on the pricing. Sorry to hear things are still not picking up in south FL. They're not great around here either. I keep thinking this too shall pass!
I love it. That Sam is always getting you or someone in trouble. Mine is badgering me to come up with projects for Con to create...when it should be getting ME to paint. :O
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for those water brushes you did the video of... that you fill the handle up with water. I cant find any in town and looked at Jerrys Artarama in the catalog not seeing them. Where do you get them and what are they called Exactly?
That looks like a great design for a purse/tote. Just keep it and one day you may find one like it or find the time to make one. Finding the right purse is similar to finding the right sketchbook, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMust...resist...new...projects....
ReplyDelete(Now where's the fun in that?) Good luck finding what you want--I know exactly what you're going through. I thought I was the only picky purse person out there. (I know where you can see some Vera Bradley in person, if you want to...)
Oh if it was only that easy to become tidy and organised - if a bag makes that much difference you should market them! LOL x
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this. I am somewhat the same in that I always buy purses that look similar and are the same size. I tend to keep the same one until my friends remark on how old and worn it looks. I just hate shopping for a new one. Hope you can find/make the one that suits you.
ReplyDeleteYes, Cris, you too should be painting!! I'll send the info over to you about the waterbrushes!
ReplyDeleteWhy, Cheryl, I do believe you've nailed it! I don't think finding the "right" one is possible! But that's not going to stop me from looking! Or making my own.
It would seem we have plenty of company, KJ! Picky purse pickers unit!
Gillian, if it works, I'll sell it to the world!
Thanks, Katie. Eventually I'll find it. Or make it.
Ok Ms. Sam...get off Laure's back! What she definitely doesn't need is yet another project if she's anything like me right now! That's a really cute design on your tote though! I like it a lot! However, even I (a sewer at heart) don't make totes because there's so many out there at reasonable prices. I would look at some of the ones on websites like this one... http://www.thirtyonegifts.com very inexpensive and you can choose your fabric pattern and have it embroidered too!
ReplyDeleteWhy do our ideas far exceed our time available?? When I am not thinking of new ideas, I am writing reminder lists of things to get finished!
